BLACKBERRY 10 · NATIVE VOLTE

Keep your BlackBerry.
Make calls over 4G.

Your BlackBerry has 4G data but falls back to 2G or 3G for calls? This tool enables 4G calling (VoLTE) on compatible BB10 phones, using your own SIM and built-in dialer. It is experimental: check your phone and carrier before you start.

01 / HOW IT WORKSSame number. Same familiar way to call.

Not an internet calling app.
Still your phone number.

VoLTE means making calls over your carrier’s 4G network.
This tool enables calling features already in BB10.
It does not provide free calls or an internet calling account.

IDENTITY / 01

Your SIM card

Keep your own number and plan.
Your SIM must have VoLTE enabled.

NATIVE IMS / 02

Built-in calling service

Enable BB10’s built-in IMS service.
Files are checked before a separate copy is modified.

VOICE / 03

Calls over 4G

Use the phone’s built-in dialer.
Your carrier’s usual charges apply.

No hardware changes

Root access is required

Root gives administrator access to the phone. It is needed to enable VoLTE, but you do not need hardware changes or another dialer app.

Keep the original files

Modify a copy, not the original

The original /radio/bin/ims_rrm is not overwritten. Native files are checked against the project’s required hashes before installation.

Checks come first

Check first, then install

The tool checks the model, OS, SIM, LTE, network settings and pre-install state. It stops if a required condition is not met.

02 / FROM USB TO 4GFollow the steps, then test real calls.

Set up over USB.
Unplug and test a call.

Use your computer to connect, check and install.
Then make and receive calls on the phone.
A status message alone cannot tell you it works.

  1. 01
    CONNECT

    Connect your phone

Connect and unlock the phone over USB. Choose “Connect phone” (连接手机); if it fails, follow “Connection help” (连接帮助).

    Connect over USB
  2. 02
    PREFLIGHT

    Check compatibility

The tool checks the model, OS, root access, native files, SIM and network. Resolve any failed checks before continuing.

    Stop if checks fail
  3. 03
    INSTALL & VERIFY

    Install and wait for registration

Confirm your backup and VoLTE plan, then follow the installation steps. Wait for the phone to register with your carrier’s calling service.

Registration is not a call test
  4. 04
    ON THE PHONE

    Make and receive real calls

Use the built-in dialer to make and receive calls. Check that both people can hear each other and the phone stays on 4G throughout.

    Retest unplugged and after restart
FIELD CHECK / Q10

Your post-install call checklist

“Registered” is a start.
Now test actual calls.

  • Make and receive calls with the built-in dialer
  • Both people can hear each other clearly
  • Stay on 4G throughout the call
  • Repeat with the USB cable unplugged
  • Repeat after a normal phone restart

Test every item yourself.
The tool will not place calls for you.

Does it work on every BlackBerry?

No. Recorded phone testing covers Q10 SQN100-3 with OS 10.3.3.3216 and China Unicom Beijing (460-01). Other Q10 variants and Q20 are experimental only after all checks pass. Automatic install, update, start and restore are paused for Passport / Q30.

Is root required? Will I lose my data?

Yes. Root means administrator access to the phone. If you already have matching root access and trusted SSH, you do not need to flash again. Unrooted Q10 phones can use the first-time preparation wizard, but flashing erases data and this workflow remains experimental. Back up first.

Is this an internet calling service? Are calls free?

No. It is not an internet calling service and does not offer free calls. You keep your SIM, number and plan, and your carrier’s charges apply. Your SIM needs VoLTE enabled and working 4G data. This project does not unlock SIMs.

Does “IMS registered” mean calls will work?

Not necessarily. It only means the phone has registered with the carrier’s calling service. Test outgoing and incoming calls, audio in both directions and 4G throughout, then repeat unplugged and after a normal restart. Long-term reliability and emergency calls are not fully validated. Do not rely on it as your only way to make emergency calls.

Do I need to install Python?

Not for the Windows EXE or macOS DMG. You only need to install Python 3.14 with Tk if you run from source. Download the package and its matching SHA-256 file from the same release.

Will my phone’s information be uploaded automatically?

No. When you choose to export, the tool saves a redacted check report locally. It does not upload it. Review the report before sharing, and do not include the private folder, private keys or private installation records.
